  • Dante emphasizes the slowness with which he is walking
  • Stream is said to bend the grass that surrounds it

In Relation to Wilstach

  • Repetition of “slowly” emphasizes the slow nature of Dante’s walk more so than in other translations
  • Illustration does not depict the woman, only Dante, Virgil, and Statius
  • The word “dark” is also repeated to describe the water
