Anatomical Triptych (An Atomic Tickle)

Marisa Oishi

add a human body part to anything

and it is remade extraordinary.

angel wings. star dust. periwinkle.

even the way eyes shut, so perfectly

eclipsing our little globes. irises

bloom in meadows we’ve never seen

but dreamed. iris comes from Greek

and means rainbow. chimera comes from winter storms

and means you. (i am knowingly writing past

the end of this poem. i have been writing past

the end of this poem for years. the half-

life of a poem is a constellation’s sigh. i think

your arm is longer than you think it is.

artichoke hearts. love life. laugh long.)
