Closing Statement
Ultimately, the categories of the gallery are defined by the topics of the artworks. Without the artwork, there would be no content on the website. There would be no message or meaning. Essentially, the website would be an empty container. However, even factoring in the artwork, the audience would only get half the story because the project is not just the sum of its parts. The Ecollective is and will continue to be an experiment of collaboration and peerocracy. The gallery does not merely display art, but it also incites artists to be a part of the platform by letting them tell the story of their art. Thus, this project would not have been possible without working with others early in the process.
When looking at the many-faceted components that contribute to the Anthropocene, it can feel quite overwhelming. The gallery we created hopes to make the consumption of this complex topic more palatable and bring a component of beauty and knowledge with each artist's contributions. Overall, for such a large group, we got feedback that, besides some ordering issues, our concepts and presentations fit together cohesively. Despite trying to cover so many different facets and coordinating with 11 people, through having subgroups and projects connected to this, we did a good job at making a large cohesive project.
