Vishnupriya presented an Odissi dance lecture-demonstration on Navarasa—the nine aesthetic emotions—through evocative episodes from the Rāmāyaṇa, drawing poetic inspiration from the Śrī Rāmakathāmṛtam. Choreographed in the Guru Debaprasad Das Gharana and directed by Guru Kunjalata Mishra, the presentation traced Śṛṅgāra (love) in Sītā’s gentle stroll through the gardens, Vīra (heroism) in Rāma breaking Lord Śiva’s bow, Karuṇā (compassion) for the dying Jaṭāyu, Adbhuta (wonder) while building the bridge across the ocean, Hāsya (humour) in the sharp-witted dialogue between Śūrpaṇakhā, Rāma, and Lakṣmaṇa, Bhayānaka (fear) in Sītā’s anguish in Laṅkā, Bībhatsa (disgust) at the grotesque feast of demons, Krodha (anger) in the slaying of Rāvaṇa, and finally Śānta (tranquility) in Rāma’s serene interactions with sages. Each rasa unfolded with lyrical depth and devotional intensity—May Lord Rāma protect us!
