Society

The fourth category in our gallery is Society. Our project is intricately connected to society, acting as a means of change, and expressing pro-environmental values and messages. Climate change-related art delves into the complex relationship between humans and the environment, addressing issues like consumerism, grief, and structures of oppression such as the prison system. Society is the complete interconnectedness between humans and the world around us. To function, and to benefit us as humans, society promotes consumerism and other ideals that can be harmful towards our natural world.

We understand that capitalist, white supremacist, and colonial ideas are embedded in every aspect of our life. Climate change is exacerbated by these systems of oppression and mainstream environmental activism often lacks intersectionality with white activists at the forefront. To move towards a society without oppression, we must apply our creativity and imagination to new possibilities free from capitalism, white supremacy, and colonialism. A rupture in society is required to make progress on the major problem of climate change and to save our earth.
