Unloosing

Catalina Videla

At the edge of the pasture after dusk

hot winds hiss. A storm

darkens the sky.

The trees shake

with fever.

Dead heavy pale violet

clouds gather and plunge

down on sore limbs

thrashing wildly

against the wrenching wind.

And all the while I am rising,

rising in fervor

under the moon’s

sleepless shining eye

watching me peak

before

plummeting

into utter

softness

of

fallen leaves.

Catalina Videla is studying Creative Writing at the University of Washington. When she is not absorbed in a book or writing stories and poetry, she enjoys spending time outdoors and finding inspiration in nature. She enjoys writing from her personal experience, inspiring others to write, and using poetry and prose to learn about herself and the world.
