Full description

The ukiyo-e printing depicts Lake Kasumigaura in the early morning. The different degrees of blue color which Hokusai used to bring the scene of the winter and express the freezing weather. By cutting the boat off in the center, Hokusai gives more detail to the viewers. The only small figure in the huge landscape is the man on the boat who is pouring away the water into the river. Again, Hokusai Mount Fuji still appears in the background in this scene like all kinds of scenes in the thirty-six prints of the series to mark its importance to Edo residents that Fuji always stands still event life changes. In this composition, you see the Western influence in Hokusai's style in both using of color and perspective: figure towards the vanishing point, like looking through a small window.
