Kosode with Flower Design
Artist: Unknown
17th Century A.D. Momoyama (1185-1600) and Edo era (1600-1868)
Full description
Kosode with flower design. Four different flower patterns with two different stripe shades. The kosode is an early precursor to the kimono, as the sleeves are shorter then a typical kimono. This kosode would have been part of a upper class woman’s wardrobe, as the different patterns of this dress would mean that many different types of fabrics would have been used to create this dress. A woman of wealth would have been the only person to afford a luxury item such as this one.
