Plate from the Erotic Book Mounds of Dyed Colors: A Pattern Book for the Boudoir First Month

Full description
Okumura Masanobu, Edo period 1736-44, Hand-colored woodblock illustration; ink and color on paper, 24.3 cm x 36.2 cm
Plate from the Erotic Book Mounds of Dyed Colors is a drawing depicting one wakashu, an adult male and one lady (assumed bc I see no shave part). The space that they are in is very neat and clean, with sliding doors, painting on the wall and little pots and plates. The three peopl all have very beautiful clothing. The wakashu thats half laying on the floor and painting is dress in very beautiful white with large pink flower kimono, with smaller flower printed wait bands. The man is dress in yellow stripped clothing, simple but well fitting, and the lady is dress in many shades of pink layers, with trees and clouds on her kimono. I know nothing about the context of the painting, but they look like they are in a very relaxed mood. Drawing and drinking tea and smoking, talking and laughing. It feels like they are all very comfortable, the man and the woman watching the wakashu doodle adn just having a good time.
