Ghost of Courtesan in the Reeds

Resource added
The ghost of a courtesan rises from a skull hidden in the reeds. The women's ghost has a very strong contrast as compared to the surrounding setting. Since she is brightly colored in a somber scenery. The courtesan displays a sad expression on her face. By looking at her hairdo and elegant black kimono we can tell that she was a high ranking courtesan. Thematically this painting displays a variation os tragic tales of courtesan from an Edo pleasure house. Driven to commit suicide by the cruel environment which was the key role as the motif of murder of unhappy courtesan.
