Full description

This earlier work by Hiroshige lacks the sophistication in his use of perspective when compared to a later works like the Tendro Hiroshiges or his 100 Famous Views of Edo. Here you see a use of perspective much more like the venduta prints from Europe that were reaching Japans shores. That is a stacked layering of subject/object towards the vanishing point, like looking through a small window at some distance.
