Applying Critical Pedagogy and Zines in Library Instruction to Support Student Wellness
Full description
Zines, self-published DIY works about anything and everything, play an important role in wellness and student engagement. In this roundtable, I will share ways the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign uses our Social Justice Zine Collection in classrooms and extracurricular activities to help students engage with materials in new ways, foster their sense of belonging, and contribute to their student wellness. Participants will be invited to share their own experiences and discuss the opportunities and challenges of using zines to support student wellness and empowerment.
