Athena
Full description
"Athena" is a 2008 novel by Susan Deacy presenting an in-depth description of the deity Athena both in ancient Greece as well as in today's modern world. The novel also describes the way that contemporary trends impact the understanding of the goddess. It begins by introducing Athena and then follows into nine main themes to discuss the character of Athena from the origins of her character in the ancient world, to her place in Greek mythology, all the way up to our interpretations today in reference to allegories and gender theory. The novel also spends quite some time dissecting her role for the Greeks by discussing her role in relation to other gods, the many heroic quests which she supported, as well as how her characterization impacted Greek society.
