This is the statue of King Neptune at Neptune Park, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was created by Paul DiPasquale, after being commissioned for the Neptune Festival. It was dedicated to the City of Virginia Beach on September 30, 2005 during the festival. He is depicted having a muscular physique with a beard and long flowing hair, holding a mighty trident in his right hand and holding a sea turtle in his left hand. His body is only shown from the waist up, as the base of the statue is assembled out of large stones. The base is adorned with various depictions of sea life including an octopus, dolphins (other side), small fishes, and starfish. The Neptune Statue stands at 34 feet tall and weighs a whopping 12.5 tons, and masterfully exudes authority, beauty and power, just like the sea it represents.
