In this engraving, Bernard Picart depicts the fall of Icarus in the famous myth of Icarus and his father Daedalus. This image portrays the failure of the wings that were invented by Daedalus, as they melted when Icarus flew too close to the sun. This fall ultimately lead to the boys demise. Platemark with Ornamental border from 1733: 36.5 × 25.9 cm.
