Full description

An Oresteia, translated by classicist, poet, and translator Anne Carson, combines three different plays from three different ancient Greek poets. Aiskhylos' Agamemnon, Sophokles' Elektra and Euripides' Orestes come together to tell the tragic tale of the house of Atreus, following Agamemnon and his family post the Iliad. The translation follows the original plays-the death of Agamemnon at the behest of his wife, the revenge and subsequent troubles of their children Elektra and Orestes- while infused with Carson's signature poetically modernized prose.
