Livin' it Up on Top

Hadestown is a Tony Award-winning Broadway, and now global, Musical retelling the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, featuring the mythic characters of Orpheus, Eurydice, Persephone, Hades, Hermes, and The Fates. The song, "Livin' it Up on Top" is sung by Persephone as she returns to the land of the living, celebrating the end of winter and the coming of spring. This song is followed by Hades arriving early to collect the goddess to return to the underworld, showcasing the turning of the seasons through the tone and musical changes representing her misery of returning to “Hadestown.” Persephone’s actress, Amber Gray, was nominated for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical” at the 2019 Tony Awards for her performance as the Goddess of Spring, and the Musical won “Best Musical Theater Album” at the 2020 Grammy Awards.
