Perseus holds up the head of Medusa during his battle with Phineus and his gang. Around him are men either dead from battle or men turning to stone at the sight of Medusa's head.

Full description

Perseus, after rescuing Andromeda from being sacrificed, decides to marry her. At their wedding, Phineus, who was previously made suitor for Andromeda, decides to attack Perseus and all of his supporters in an attempt to get his spot back with Andromeda. During the intense battle, as Ricci has depicted in this painting, Perseus pulls the head of Medusa out and aims it as his enemies- immediately turning them to stone.
