Dante is granted permission from the Virgin to view upon the “True Light of which all other is the radiance or reflection” (Sayers 343). Dante’s Descent back to Earth, returning to mortal and fallible being. Dante’s understanding that he can never understand or speak the truth of God again, but he carries it with him.
