The Why and How of Sensory Friendly Libraries
Full description
This session will explore the role of sensory-friendly libraries in expanding the use of spaces, resources, and programming for library users, particularly those with sensory processing differences. We will offer a vision of a sensory-friendly library based on the literature and our experiences creating spaces at multiple libraries within our university system. By the end of the session, attendees will be able to describe the importance of creating sensory-friendly libraries and the steps they can take to implement these practices in their institutions. They will be equipped with the tools to advocate for more inclusive library environments for any community.
