The Underworld

Resource slideshow

This oil painting on canvas features Demeter on the left hand side at what appears to be the edge of the world with her arms wide open as she looks down. Slightly below Demeter and on the right hand side of the painting, Hermes is depicted as carrying a seemingly glowing Persephone out of the underworld and back to her mother. Persephone's head tilts back as she reaches for the comfort of her mother's arms.
